Ultrasound

An ultrasound technician can be described as someone who “uses ultrasonic waves for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, specifically for monitoring a developing fetus.” In other words, an ultrasound technician is someone who generally works in hospitals or doctor’s offices and performs ultrasounds on pregnant women. An ultrasound technician is a great job for anyone who likes working with people and is interested in the medical field. The first step to becoming an ultrasound technician is to enroll in an ultrasound school or training program. Here are a few things to help you learn the basics of the ultrasound field:

  • Ultrasound schools will provide you with the experience you will need to use ultrasound equipment as part of the medical diagnostic process. They will teach you the needed skills to get hired as an ultrasound technician and to succeed in the medical field.
  • When you graduate from school and get hired as an ultrasound technician you will often be closely supervised by a trained physician.  Most of your day will be filled with greeting and supervising patients. This job requires an individual to be extremely friendly and easily teachable.
  • The demand for graduates from ultrasound schools remains high and is expected to continue to grow. This is a career that is a good investment and will likely be a strong career in the years to come, with many job opportunities.
