Sonography

A sonography technician can be described as someone who “uses sonographic waves for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, specifically for monitoring a developing fetus.” In other words, a sonography technician is someone who generally works in hospitals or doctor’s offices and performs sonographies on pregnant women. A sonography technician is a great job for anyone who enjoys being around and working with others and is interested in the medical field. By enrolling in a school or training program, you will be one step ahead of the game, being well versed in the operations and responsibilities given to a sonography technician. Below are a few tips to remember and follow when entering this exciting field:

  • Sonography schools will provide you with the experience you will need to use sonography equipment as part of the medical diagnostic process. The education will prepare you for the work environment, by teaching the necessary skills in order to be successful.  Along with the education comes specific training for the field you are interested in, and suggestions for achievement.
  • As with any graduation, once you are hired as a sonography technician you will be closely supervised during your first few weeks of operating.  This gives you the opportunity to learn from those in your trade, and pick up helpful hints on how to successfully complete each task given to you.
  • Become a people person!  As a sonography technician you will be working with many people from different walks of life.  Many will look to you for comfort during their visit and expect your professionalism in the workplace.
