Radiography

Radiography can be defined as “the process of producing an image by radiation other than visible light.” In other words, a radiography technician is responsible for producing x-rays. A radiography technician is an excellent career for anyone who is interested in the medical field and enjoys working and interacting with people on a daily basis. The first step to becoming a successful radiography technician is a good education. There are many radiography schools and training programs out there that will give you the education you need to thrive in this field. However, deciding on the right radiography school is not always easy. Here are some things that individuals interested in this field should know about radiography:

  • As a general basis of any good radiography education, you should receive extensive experience using modern x-ray equipment, which will help you to gain the experience and skills that you will need in your career.
  • At any radiography school, you should receive extensive training in critical safety procedures in using radiography equipment.
  • All radiography training should be taught by licensed radiography professionals. They should have extensive experience and expertise to give you the knowledge and skills that will be critical to your education and future career.
  • When you graduate from radiography school, most states and employers will require you to be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  Take the necessary steps in advance, in order to complete this certification.  You would not want to delay your career in order to go through this extra certification.
