• Know what kind of training you need to become the type of dental hygienist that you desire to become. Schools will vary widely on the training that they offer. Make sure that you are pursuing the kind of training that will help you to meet your career goals.

• After you complete all of the necessary training to become a dental hygienist, it is a good idea to participate in an internship or apprenticeship with a local dentist.
